Our Communication Plan

Purpose

A central purpose is to ensure that those interacting with this research project are reliably informed and engaged with issues concerning the scope of project activities, deliverables and their possible consequences. The strategy should ensure that messages, reports, communications tools and events are utilised and programmed into the operations of the project. It is expected that everyone involved within the project should act as an agent for dissemination and communication. It is hoped that this document will assist project members by providing opportunities for engagement and communication.

Communication carried out amongst project team members:

  • Formal means of communication:
    • Monthly meetings via videoconference or telephone
    • Two face-to-face meetings
    • Minutes of the meetings
    • OLT reports
    • Evaluation reports
    • WikiResearcher website
  • Informal communication:
    • Emails and telephone calls amongst members when required

Communication carried out by the Reference Group members:

  • Formal communication:
    • Individual emails and if desired skype calls for feedback/input
    • Possibly one face-to-face meeting at the symposium
    • Year 1 and final ALTC reports
    • Evaluation reports
    • WikiResearcher
  • Informal communication:
    • Emails and telephone calls amongst members

Tools

  • For the monthly videoconference meeting, the preferred tools will be Skype and teleconference equipment.
  • Informal communication will require telephone calls and standard electronic mail.
  • WikiResearcher will be the official website of the project.
  • Reports and minutes of the meetings will be developed in Word and emailed to individuals.

Reporting

Within the Project Team

Monthly meetings with the project team will present the opportunity for team members to report to each other on the project activities and progress. Tied in with the monthly team meetings is a summary of the meetings that will be available on WikiResearcher to all team members, critical friends and the project evaluator for access and contributions.

Management Reporting

The official reports required by OLT are:

  • 13/08/2014 Progress Report
  • 02/02/2015 Final Report Narrative
  • 01/04/2015 Final Report Financial

The project reports will be developed by the Project Officer with the assistance of the research team. The final report will also include the evaluation report.

Dissemination activities

Particularly in Australia, the team will seek to promote participation and the outcomes of the project through HERDSA, ASCILITE and ODLAA mailing lists. Internationally, we will aim to promote the project in the OERu, WikiEducator, and other important OEP communities. Other dissemination activities will include conference presentations at ASCILITE, HERDSA, ODLAA, THETA; and publication of journal articles in ranked journals and book chapters.
